10 Records Worth To Die For: #266 mit Biff Malibu (Gluecifer)

0

1UNION CARBIDE PRODUCTIONS – In the air tonight

This record changed my life. Pure energy and  hefty amounts of madness and danger. But with a knack for great rock that most other bands just can dream of. Some call them the Swedish Stooges, pretty good call.

2ALICE COOPER – Love it to Death

A highlight from the the true golden age of rock’n’roll in the early seventies. A seminal record that proves that Alice Cooper is way more than makeup and guillotines. And of course «The Ballad of Dwight Fry».

3BOB DYLAN – Desire

The lyrics here are amazing. The band sounds like the coolest and loosest gang of hippies you ever heard. And Emmylou Harris is on it. There might be songs on other Dylan-records that are better, but as an album this is the best in my opinion. One of those records I never have stopped listening too.

4NICK LOWE – Labour of Lust

A true legend that has written and produced so much great music that it’s hard to grasp. And now, in his old age, he’s impeccably cool. Hard to pick a favorite record from all the great stuff he has med, but this is a strong one. However, people should hear absolutely everything Nick Lowe has made.

5PRIMAL SCREAM – Give Out But Don’t Give Up: The Original Memphis Recordings

The 1994 version, mixed by George Drakoulias had massive hits like Jailbird and Rocks. But 24 years later they released the record again, with the original mixes by Tom Dowd at Ardent Studios in Memphis. And man, it just sounds so beautiful, especially the down tempo stuff.

6TYLER CHILDERS – Country Squire

The greatest singer in modern American country music. Far away from the cheesy Nashville cliché stuff. And « All your’n» is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard.

7VIAGRA BOYS – viagr aboys

We might not live in the greatest of times. But this band and this record singlehandly made music great again.

8THE BELLRAYS – Black Lightning

Lisa Kekaula’s singing is pure rock’n’roll genius. One of those voices that’s just made for this. Great sound and a great band. Love this record.

9MOTT THE HOOPLE – Mott

When we played our first show since 2005 at the Azkena festival in 2018, this band was on stage before us. I was starstruck. British glam boogie at its finest. Ian Hunter is a true legend.

10JD MCPHERSON – Undivided Heart & Soul

One of the greatest guitar players around. I’ve always had a soft spot for Stray Cats and some old 50s stuff. And this record makes this great tradition sound fresh and exciting. Good to have at least one decent JD guy from America. Always coming back to this one.
