Wir sprachen anlässlich der neuen Albums Fuctifano, das im März 2020 über Arising Empire erscheinen wird, mit Peter & The Test Tube Babies-Schlagzeuger Sam Fuller über seine Hardcore-Punk-Roots und wie er in den Neunzigern in Sofia zur Musik und Szene gekommen ist.
Do you remember the first hardcore / punk show you went to? Is the club still open today?
It was a small club show in a venue called Area 51 in my hometown of Swindon. It has been closed for a long time now. My first big punk show was The Damned when I was 15 with my father,
What is your all-time favorite club or location?
I love playing a home town show, but my favorite would have to be Rebellion.
Do you remember the first hardcore / punk record you got?
The first record I bought was Iowa by Slipknot, but my first punk record was probably Machine gun etiquette by the Damned.
In your opinion what is the perfect hardcore show?
One with lots of beer and people going crazy.
What is your all-time favorite show you’ve played?
We played a sellout show in New York, it was fucking crazy!
Is there a show you missed in the past that still makes you angry that you could not be there?
I never got to see The Prodigy live, I had lots of opportunities to go but never went
What band would you like to see again?
Rammstein!
Is there a person who has influenced you especially in hardcore / punk?
My dad. He took me to my first ever punk show, and recruited me for his band Charred Hearts, and that’s how I met Peter and Del, we supported them lots of times.
What are your top 3 hardcore-punk front men/women?
Men – Charlie Harper, Uk Subs, he’s amazing and the nicest guy Colin, GBH – once again a lovely guy Wattie Exploited – lovely guy, funny and crazy! Women – Alison, Maid of ace, she has an amazingly strong voice and is fun to drink with Viki Vortex – Viki vortex and the cumshots, Viki is loud, always excited and very hard not to notice in a crowd, she’s always wearing something day-glo! Alice, in evil hour- despite being small she has a fantastically powerful voice!
What is in your opinion the most underrated hardcore-punk band?
I would say that a lot of the up and coming new bands don’t get the credit they deserve. They work really hard in a scene that has so many bands,
Are there some newer bands you could mention?
The Delinquents from Dundee in Scotland are a brilliant young band and a very fun bunch of lads to be around. You should check them out Thank you of being part of our topic!
