Die Musiker von Nations Afire spiel(t)en bei einigen der einflussreichsten Punk- und Hardcore-Bands der letzten Jahre. Gitarrist Chris Chasse war beispielsweise mehrere Jahre Teil von Rise Against (Siren Song of the Counter Culture ‘04 and The Sufferer & the Witness ’06). Der Nik Hill (Gesang und Gitarre) spielet bei Ignite als Gitarrist von 2000 bis 2015 eine wichtige Rolle, und Bassist Brett Rasmussen ist gar Gründungsmitglied der Melodic-Hardcore-Jungs aus Orange County. Der vierte im Bunde, Schlagzeuger Todd Hennig, war von 2001 bis 2006 die perkussive Kraft bei Death By Stereo (Into The Valley Of Death und Death For Life).
Bereits auf der ersten EP von Nations Afire, The Uprising, konnte man schon nachhören, welche Mischung die Mitglieder da zusammengerührt haben und wer welche Elemente mit ins Spiel gebracht hat. Auf ihrem Debüt-Album The Ghosts We Will Become konnte man dann noch mehr vom Orange-County-Geist atmen, der die Band durchströmt. In der Vergangenheit spielten Nations Afire unter anderem auf der Vans Warped Tour, tourten unzählige Male die US-Westküste und rockten seit ihrer Gründung, Europa auf drei Touren. Die Songs ihren neuen EP Violence EP, die im Frühling 2018 über Unity World Wide Records erscheint, wurden von Chris Chasse gemixt und von Paul Miner gemastert.
Nations Afirre – eigentlich wollte ich das nicht wiederholen, aber es muss sein. Wenn man sieht, welche Musiker hier am Werke sind und mit wem sie sich diese Violence EP Split 12“, teilen (LastLight), da kann man fast nur auf die Knie fallen. Es ist toll, dass diese Musiker immer noch unterwegs sind, rocken und Bock haben!
Ihr Beitrag auf dieser Split 12“ sind sechs Songs, die einen gleich wissen lassen, woher sie stammen. Klar, Orange County. Und in der Musik ist auch sofort der OCHC erkennbar. Das 2012 erschienene Debütalbum The Ghosts We Will Become ist etwas rabiater und schmutziger, was mehr an einen verrauchten Club erinnert. Dieser Output hingegen lädt eher dazu ein im Auto in ein entspanntes Wochenende zu cruisen, da es eine sehr harmonische und ausgeglichene Aura versprüht. Auch wenn die Texte aber nicht ständig von „Alles ist super“, Einhörnern und Feenstaub handeln – das soll hier noch erwähnt sein.
Für alle, die mal aus dem harten Alltag raus wollen, die nicht immer nur „Geballer“ wollen, aber auch nicht immer die alten Songs abspielen möchten und neugierig auf eine neue harmonische Reise sind, hier ist eure neue EP!
Die Violence 12″ Split-EP erscheint am 06. April 2018 über Unity World Wide Records. Die Preorder der roten Vinyl startet zwei Wochen vor Release.

NATIONS AFIRE was formed in early 2009 and is fusing elements of hardcore, punk and rock together to create their powerful sound. NATIONS AFIRE features Chris Chasse, former guitarist for Rise Against (Siren Song of the Counter Culture ‘04 and The Sufferer & the Witness ’06), vocalist/guitarist Nik Hill who played in Ignite (2000 til 2015) and Lucky Scars, bassist Brett Rasmussen who is the last original founding member of the OCHC outfit Ignite and drummer Todd Hennig who was the percussive force behind Death By Stereo between 2001 and 2006. So far, they released the album „The Ghosts We Will Become“ as well as the two EP‘s „The Uprising“ and „Even The Blackest Heart Still Beats“. In the past they played the Van‘s Warped Tour, toured many times the West Coast of the US and rocked Europe on 3 tours.
Nations Afire… To be honest, I didn’t want to repeat it but it have to. If you see which musicians are practicing here and with which musicians they are sharing this “Violence EP” Split 12” (Last Light), you are pretty close to fall on your knees. It’s great, that those musicians are still on the road, ready to rock!
Their part on this 12” are 6 songs, which let you instantly know, from where they are. Sure, Orange County. And in their music you will immediately find the OCHC. The first album was dropped in 2012. “The Ghosts We Will Become” is a bit more rough and dirty, which will remember you more to be in a smoky club, while this album is more like inviting you to cruise into a “chill-weekend” and spreads a very harmonic and smooth aura. But the lyrics are not telling you, that everything is fine, unicorns and pixiedust, that what should be said here as well. If you want to get out of a hard “daily-routine” day, if you don’t wanna hear every day “exploding-eyes” music, and you don’t wanna play the old songs again and again and if you are curious for a harmonic journey, this is your new EP!
